Heptagon is founded as a spin-off from Helsinki University of Technology by world-leading experts in diffractive optics.
2000
Heptagon acquires replicated micro-optics department of CSEM in Zurich, Switzerland, formerly part of RCA research laboratories focused on UV-replication and mastering technologies, which forms the basis for Heptagon's future products.
2002
Heptagon is qualified for Telcordia-qualified microlens arrays for parallel optical transceivers/receivers and optical switches.
2004
LED beam-shaping and CMOS image sensing applications developed for mobile phone cameras. Company experiences significant growth in demand for its mobile phone imaging lens solutions.
2006
Heptagon opens offices in San Jose, California to serve growing customer base in the USA and Canada.
2007
Production ramped up to several million optical elements per month at facility in Rueschlikon, near Zurich. High-volume ISO-9001 and ISO-14001-certified manufacturing facility opens in Singapore & Asian regional headquarters are established.
2008
Mass production of 2 wafer/4 lens CMOS imaging cameras is started.
2009
First products with micro-optical lenses for LED flash are brought to market.
2010
Next-generation high-speed optical interconnect products are qualified and production is launched. Christian Tang-Jespersen joins Heptagon as CEO.
2011
Transfer of corporate headquarters to Singapore
