LED Optics
Heptagon’s LED optics primarily target applications for smart phones and are incorporated into a wide variety of products, including mobile camera flash lenses, torch for video applications in low-lighting conditions and applications for macro, bar code and document readers. Our LED optics have patented design features, such as LED beam shaping with complex micro-optical structures that not only fulfill high optical performance requirements, but also offer pleasing aesthetics. Our LED optics also can be altered to respond to mobile device manufacturers’ design needs. For example, they can be designed to hide the LED, may emphasize certain design patterns or can even allow for customized decoration or even small text inscriptions on the surface of the lens. Our extremely flat lenses also make for a very compact product overall.
Optical Interconnects
To keep up with the demand today for fast data transfer and handling, optical interconnects are increasingly providing an alternative to copper wires in supercomputers and data communications equipment. Our super computer optical products provide a higher density of integration and better management of cables than with traditional copper products. They also are a low-cost alternative to quartz-etched elements for robust interconnection components in data communications and telecom applications. Our process enables fabrication in one single technology step using both diffractive and refractive elements. The optical interconnect products can include additional features, such as passive alignment of components with respect to VCSEL arrays of fiber bundles.
